Phrase Search example “merchogram and planogram”
To search for a specific phrase, enclose the phrase in double quotes. Phrase searching finds pages where the words in the phrase appear next to each other. If you searched for the example without the quotes, you would find pages that contain the words merchogram and planogram separately, anywhere within each page. With the quotes, all three words must be in next to one another in the order you typed within the quotes
AND Search example “new packaging” and “merchandising system”
To indicate that a keyword or phrase must appear in the results, type an and between the keywords/phrases. The example searches for pages that contain new packaging and merchandising system. To indicate that a phrase must appear exactly as typed in the results, place a quotation mark before and after the phrase, like this: “new packaging” and “merchandising system”.
note: If you do not type and between each word or phrase, it is implicitly stated. new packaging design implies all three words must appear next to one another
OR Search example “new packaging” and “merchandising system”
To indicate that a keyword or phrase can but not must appear in the results, type an or between the keywords/phrases. The example searches for pages that contain new packaging or merchandising system. To indicate that a phrase must appear exactly as typed in the results, place a quotation mark before and after the phrase, like this: “new packaging” or “merchandising system”.
NOT Search example new packaging not merchandising system
To indicate that a keyword must not appear in the results, put the word not in front of the keyword. The example returns pages about new packaging, but not ones that contain the words merchandising system.
To indicate that a phrase must not appear in the results, place the minus sign outside of the phrase. This example finds Web pages about painting but excludes finger painting sites: painting -"finger painting".
Case Sensitive Search example Packaging
Use mixed case words to match characters exactly as typed, such as Packaging, Use lowercase keywords to match any combination of uppercase and lowercase characters in your search results. The example finds Packaging but not packaging or PACKAGING. Case sensitivity does not apply to phrase searches.
Search Within
example new packaging | merchandising system To search within one set of results for another keyword or phrase, type a | symbol between the keywords. (The | symbol is called the pipe symbol. To type the pipe symbol on most keyboards, press Shift-backslash.)
The example first finds pages that contain new packaging, and then finds pages that contain merchandising system within the first set of results.
Title Search example title: new packaging
Most Web pages have titles that appear in the title bar at the top of your Web browser window. You can search just within Web page titles, which can focus your search and return Web pages that are very relevant to what you're searching for.
To search within Web page titles, type title: followed by your search keywords. You can combine title searching with other keywords, like this: +title:new packaging and merchandising system.
